* Yearly Application Deadlines
- Spring: 1st Friday of October (Internship runs January-May)
- Summer: 1st Friday of March (Internship runs May-August)
- Autumn: 1st Friday of June (Internship runs August/September-December)
* Applicants must be in at least third year of collegiate study and possess a 3.0 GPA or higher
* Paid and credit positions available; academic credit must accompany all unpaid internship
positions. Available positions include:
- Full-time internships require 37.5 hours/week
- Part-time internships require 20-30 hours/week
* Late and/or incomplete applications will not be considered. Complete applications include:
- Cover letter
- Resume
- Writing sample (not to exceed three pages and should demonstrate concise writing ability)
- References (2-3 and should include individual's name, phone number and their affiliation). Please DO NOT send letters of recommendation.

The Foreign Agricultural Service Career Intern Program (CIP)
We are looking for U.S. citizen g raduates with undergraduate and/or graduate degrees in agricultural sciences, business and/or international studies and who have excellent background, experience and interest in economics and international agricultural trade. Students who will have degrees within six months of the deadline are also eligible to apply. During the two-year internship, interns work as full time employees with substantial training and rotation opportunities. Upon successful completion, interns (fellows) are offered permanent career positions. The deadline for the online CIP application is December 15, 2006.
The Foreign Agricultural International Agricultural Internship Program(IAIP) SUMMER 2007
We are looking for a few outstanding senior and graduate level college and university students to work in our OVERSEAS offices to promote U.S. agricultural interests through the International Agricultural Internship Program (IAIP) for SUMMER 2007. The USDA's Foreign Agricultural Service, one of the four U.S. government foreign service agencies, places about 10 students for each semester (fall, spring and summer) with excellent analysis, marketing, writing, language and organizational skills and experience to work on international agricultural trade policy issues, commodity and market analysis and organizing trade events in our overseas offices for a 10-16 week PAID INTERNSHIP. U.S. citizen students who are majoring in a business or science related agricultural field, i.e. Ag Econ, Econ, Finance, Business or Marketing, International Studies or Relations, Law or in a Biotechnology Program are eligible. Online registration for the summer semester closes December 15, 2006. The fall 2007 application deadline is April 3, 2007 and the spring 2008 application deadline is August 18, 2007.
