Internship Opportunities For College Students
HCF receives emails everyday about new internship and scholarship opportunities for students. We are passing the information along to you for your benefit. We encourage you to seek out summer internships all over the country for the great experiences you will have and the lasting connections you will make.
HCF staff does not know any other information about these postings – please contact these organizations individually if you have any questions about the programs.

1. SOPHE Seeks a Few Good Interns!
Attention students and faculty! Are you looking for internship ideas in the areas of health education and health promotion? Consider an Internship with the Society for Public Health Education! At the only independent professional organization devoted exclusively to public health education and health promotion, SOPHE interns can expect the opportunity to work on a variety of projects and tasks pertinent to SOPHE's mission. Among these are advocacy, program planning, communications planning/outreach, research, conference planning, fundraising, chapter development, administrative responsibilities/data entry. Upon interviewing, a scope of work and activity is tailored to each intern's expertise and pertinent to SOPHE's needs. SOPHE interns will have the opportunity to develop a project in conjunction with SOPHE staff that they will create and complete during their internship. Intern activities may include policy and media advocacy, program planning and communications, health education research, SOPHE professional meetings, and much, much more.

2. The White House Internship Program
The White House Internship Program offers an excellent opportunity to serve our President and explore public service. We are seeking exceptional candidates to apply for this highly competitive program. In addition to normal office duties, interns attend weekly lectures, tours, and complete an intern service project. Interns may serve a term in the Fall, Spring or Summer. All candidates must be at least 18 years of age, hold United States citizenship, and be enrolled in a college or university.

3. Congressional Internship program

4. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)’s Undergraduate Student Research Program.
The program offers students across the United States mentored research experiences at participating NASA Centers and research support facilities during the Summer of 2006 or the Fall of 2006.
Through the program you will receive:
10-15 week research experience at a participating NASA Center under the supervision of a NASA technical mentor
Students will receive a $5,000 (10-week summer session) or $7,500
(15-week fall session) stipend for the research experience
one round-trip airfare or ground transportation costs to and from the NASA Host Center
A location allowance will be provided for students at specific high cost NASA Centers
Eligibility Criteria:
undergraduates enrolled full-time in an accredited U.S. college or university
Rising juniors or seniors during the Spring 2006 semester/quarter
Must be studying an academic major or demonstrated coursework concentration in engineering, mathematics, computer science, or physical/life sciences

5. Oregon Health & Science University's Equity Summer Research Program.
This 8-week summer program places rising college sophomores and juniors in OHSU research labs to provide hands-on experience, mentoring, and the association of graduate students, professors, and other like-minded undergraduates. There is a stipend available to students who are accepted into the program.
The deadline for applications is February 15, 2006. We encourage students to apply as early as possible. Women and minorities are strongly encouraged to apply for the program.
