Permanent Full-time Positions in the Office of Central Operations
The Social Security Administration's Office of Central Operations in
Baltimore, Maryland is offering an exciting opportunity for individuals
looking for a challenging career in a dynamic federal agency. The
requirements are a four-year college degree or one year of claims
experience and U.S. citizenship.
The permanent positions we are looking filled are:
* A Benefit Technical Examiner (BTE) makes final determination on
a full range of actions involving entitlement to Social Security
benefits, continuing entitlement of benefits and the amount of monthly
benefits payable. The BTE also initiates and responds to telephone
contacts to resolve issues or discrepancies and/or explain or obtain
information regarding Social Security programs.
The entry level position starts as a GS-5 ($30,386) or GS-7 ($37,640).
This position is a career ladder position leading to a GS-9 ($46,041).
* The Claims Technical Examiner (CTE) reviews and authorizes
highly difficult and complex claims for benefits under the Social
Security Act and the Federal Coal Mine health and Safety Act. The CTE
also makes final decisions regarding eligibility or entitlement to
Social Security benefits.
The entry level position starts as a GS-7 ($37,640). This position is a
career ladder position leading to a GS-11 ($55,706).
